About
Plenty of writers set out to tell a story that feels real -- Melina is a writer sharing the fantastic stories of real people. Since graduating from NYU Tisch’s Cinema Studies & Film Production programs, she immediately co-wrote a screenplay that diversified the cinematic canon of her father's native Caribbean homeland. That film, She Paradise, has since been produced and accepted to multiple film festivals including Tribeca and AFI.
Melina loves to work in genres like coming-of-age, dance, horror, and magical realism. Through mediums like film, poetry, and prose. She explores topics like the black diasporic experience, American social dynamics, and how they often intersect on the dancefloor.
If this already sounds intriguing, wait until you see it on the page.
Melina is based in both NYC and Los Angeles. For samples and more information please email.
